history
In 1983, ex- Doobie Brothers members John McFee and Keith Knudsen met session musician Steve Goodman in Los Angeles and decided to start a band. Demos were recorded together with Jerry Scheff and Glenn D.Hardin, which soon found their way to Nashville . In 1984 the quintet was signed to Warner under the name "Southern Pacific" .
In 1985 their debut album Southern Pacific was released . The single Thing About You , in which Emmylou Harris played a key role, was able to place in the country top 20. A little later, Sheff and Hardin got out and were replaced by the former member of Creedence Clearwater Revival , Stu Cook (born April 25, 1945) and Kurt Howell.
In 1986 her second album Killbilly Hill was released . Goodmann then left the group. David Jenkins took his place. Two years later, their next album was produced with Zuma . The single New Shade Of Blue reached number three on the country charts. Jenkins left the band and Southern Pacific continued as a quartet. After producing two more albums, the remaining members split up in 1993.
