Social oppression is a form of oppression . The term expresses that a social group deprives other groups of their rights.

In contrast to “individual oppression”, “social oppression” refers to social groups. Often “social oppression” is also differentiated from “national oppression”. The term refers primarily to class differences ( nobility - non-nobility, bourgeoisie - proletariat ). With the rise of the women's movement , there was also talk of “social oppression of women”.

One attempt to end social oppression is social revolution .
