SpVgg Kranichfeld 1861
The SpVgg. Kranichfeld 1861 is a sports club in the Thuringian city of Kranichfeld . He does several sports and has about 400 members.

The Spielvereinigung Kranichfeld is the successor to the company sports association (BSG) Motor Kranichfeld founded in 1949 . This became known nationwide through its soccer section. This moved with their 1st team until the beginning of the 1950s at the district level, before they rose to the fourth-class district class Erfurt in 1952. It was located there until 1957 (calendar year season), then rose to the Erfurt district league , which in turn had become the fourth soccer league after the introduction of the 2nd GDR league . The fourth class of the crane fields lasted only two seasons, 14th place after the 1959 season meant relegation. As a success this season, the BSG Motor was able to book the win of the district soccer cup. This authorized her to take part in the GDR-wide cup competition in 1960 . There Motor Kranichfeld had to compete with the second division team Dynamo Eisleben and after a 5-0 defeat retired from the rest of the competition.
In the district class, which was still fifth in 1960, Motor Kranichfeld played until the 1974/75 season (from 1961 in the summer-spring game rhythm, from 1963 4th league after the 2nd GDR league was discontinued). After the season 1964/65 the team took first place in their season, but could not prevail in the promotion round to the district league. From 1971, the quality of the football team decreased significantly, and the 1974/75 season ended with relegation place 14. BSG Motor was unable to return to the district class.
When the system of company sports associations collapsed after the political change in 1990 and the associated economic change, BSG Motor was converted into SpVgg in 1861. Football has also become the most popular sport at SpVgg. In 2016, the 1st team was relegated to the bottom of the table in the Central Thuringia District League (9th league).
