Tension paper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tensioning paper (also called Japanese paper ) is a paper-like material which z. B. is used to cover model aircraft. In the past it was also used for man-carrying aircraft. It is applied to wings and tail units (sometimes also to the fuselage) with starch paste, pre-tensioned with water mist and painted several times with tensioning varnish . The lacquer shrinks as it dries and finally tightens the paper.
