Bügelfolie or covering film is made of plastic often especially from polyester existing film , obtained with an iron may be applied to a suitable substrate.

Iron-on film is offered by various manufacturers in countless colors (including transparent ones). It is mostly used to cover model aircraft. One side has a thin layer of hot-melt adhesive. In some cases, iron-on film can also be used for textiles such as T-shirts, but due to the lack of stability, flex films applied with a printing press are better suited here.

They can be applied to the surface ( wing , fuselage, tail units , ...) with an iron . Furthermore, the film shrinks slightly under the influence of heat. You can blow out small creases with a hot air blower and stretch the film taut.

The iron-on film usually makes a not inconsiderable contribution to the stability and rigidity of a flight model (especially the wings).
