Rafter cross

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The rafter cross is a heraldic image in heraldry and is one of the common figures .

A floating rafter is shown in the coat of arms , that is, the rafter is free in the shield and does not touch the edge of the shield, on the right or left side of which a short crossbar crosses the rafter. If the crossed part at the top of the rafter is broken and pushed down, the heraldist describes this figure as a broken cross-rafter . When describing the coat of arms , always mention the side on which the cross piece lies.
