Speed garage

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Speed Garage is a genre that originated in England around 1997–98. The term is used to describe a fast form of garage house (approx. 130 to 140 bpm , in contrast to this, the “normal” garage house only has 115 to 125 bpm), which is, however, peppered with elements from drum and bass , especially with the typical sub-bass that is characteristic of this genre.

Speed Garage was consumed by a very chic scene in England . As legend would have it, this style of music was first played at Sunday events, where many children of wealthy families would get together after the obligatory lunchtime dinner. These events usually took place in the afternoon (instead of at night), and the most consumed drink was champagne - at least that's the cliché. However, the fashion wave quickly ebbed away until the style mutated into the 2 step at the turn of the millennium .
