Storage chamber

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A storage chamber is a component of a rain basin , i.e. a rain overflow basin , rain clarification basin or rain retention basin , for storing mixed or rain water .

This component provides the usable storage volume ( usable volume ) for which the structure was designed. It is fed via an inlet structure if there is constant flow ( main circuit ), or via a separating structure if the waste water flow is directed past the storage chamber ( shunt ) and only enters the basin when it is raining heavily.

The wastewater is then passed on in small quantities to the wastewater treatment plant via a drainage structure . If the height is favorable, a throttle device is used to reduce the outflow. If a free gradient is not available, a sewage pump takes over both throttling and conveyance.
