The Speidlerhaus is one of the oldest buildings in Baienfurt in the Ravensburg district in the south of Baden-Württemberg. It is named after the stocking manufacturer Franz Josef Speidler who used to live there.

The current address is Waldseer Straße 4, 88255 Baienfurt. Access to the event hall is via a staircase with elevator and toilet facilities in the narrow wall compartment, also recognizable by the lower roof edge, in the left half of the building front. There is a vertical flag and a stone plaque integrated into the masonry that bears the name of the building.

history

The stately building was created in two construction phases. The core of the building can be dated to around 1673. Only remnants of the massive enclosure on the ground floor and the half-timbered construction on the upper floor have survived from this time . In a second construction phase around 1762, the older building was extended to the north and built over with a uniform second upper storey extending over this substructure and an associated roof structure. Comprehensive building work on the outer fronts followed in the 19th century, whereby the baroque structure from 1762 has been largely preserved until today.

Due to its sophisticated urban structure, the house is a special case in the rural environment. In 1998 and 1999 the building was completely renovated and has been a listed building since then .

The building is operated by the Manufaktur Kulturverein Baienfurt e. V. used as a venue for cabaret in the fields of music, theater and children's theater, literature and cabaret.
