Spica (company)

SPICA S.pA ( Società Pompe Iniezione Cassani & Affini ) was an Italian manufacturer of injection systems and other components for the automotive industry.

Francesco and Eugenio Cassani founded the company in Milan in 1932 to produce injection systems for diesel engines . In 1938 the company was owned by Luigi Orlando and Costanzo Ciano and relocated to Livorno. In 1941 Spica was nationalized through the Istituto per la Ricostruzione Industriale (IRI) and became part of Alfa Romeo . Spica produced, among other things, spark plugs , shock absorbers , oil and water pumps . In 1988 Fiat Group took over the company and sold it to Delphi in 1989 . After TRW took over Delphi, the last original Spica factory closed in 2014.
