Gottlieb Ernst Heinrich von Goszicki (also: Goschitzki , born February 9, 1783 in Lagiewnick , Lublinitz district , † July 13, 1868 in Klaptow , Fürstenthum district ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

He was the son of the Prussian Rittmeister a. D. Karl von Goszicki and his wife Matha, née Baroness von Chambres. His father was a Prussian Rittmeister a. D. from Hussar Regiment No. 3 .

Military career

Goszicki first visited the cadet house in Berlin and on April 5, 1799 joined the infantry regiment "von Ruits" of the Prussian army as a non-commissioned officer . By the end of December 1803 he was promoted to Second Lieutenant and took part in the Battle of Prussian Eylau during the Fourth Coalition War.

After the Peace of Tilsit he was transferred to the newly formed 1st Pomeranian Infantry Regiment on January 1, 1808 . There Goszicki rose on October 6, 1812 to first lieutenant on to be drafted into the reserve battalion on June 1, 1813th On November 23, 1813, he was promoted to staff captain . During the Wars of Liberation Goszicki fought in battle near Luckau and the sieges of Stettin, Magdeburg, Maubeuge, Philippeville and the district. On May 28, 1814 he was promoted to captain and company commander . In 1815 he was wounded in the Battle of Ligny and received the Iron Cross II. Class and the Order of St. Vladimir IV. After the war, Goszicki joined the 30th Infantry Regiment on September 15, 1816 as a major with a patent from September 17, 1816 . On March 30, 1832 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and commissioned on June 1, 1832 with the command of the 28th Infantry Regiment . On October 23, 1833, he was appointed regimental commander. At the same time he was promoted to colonel , Goszicki was transferred to the 22nd Infantry Regiment as commander on March 30, 1834 . On September 9, 1835, he received the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class, and on September 30, 1835, the Order of Saint Anne, II class. Goszicki fell seriously ill with a hip problem. Since cures only cause a small delay, he received his departure on June 12, 1838 with the character of major general and the statutory pension . He died on July 13, 1868 on the estate of his brother-in-law Zimmermann in Klaptow in the Fürstenthum district .

In his assessment from the year 1815, General von Pirch wrote : “Deserves to be counted rightly among the most excellent officers who combine the greatest modesty with more intellect. Goszicki married on December 5, 1816 in Kolberg, Katharina Juliane Christine Zimmermann (* 1797 - May 29, 1845), the foster daughter of the merchant and elder of the sailing house Heinrich Gottlieb Zimmermann (* 1764) from Kolberg. After her death on June 1, 1845, she was buried in the garrison cemetery. The couple had several children:
