Mirror file

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A mirror file is a copy of a physical file .

Above all, companies (e.g. banks) or authorities that operate at several locations and do not (yet) have digitized versions of the documents create copies of the original files in order to keep them in parallel at the relevant locations.

The advantage is that several employees or departments can work with the documents at the same time.

A disadvantage is that this procedure creates a lot of effort in the administration and organization of the files. In addition, the administrative effort increases when changes are made to the file.

One solution to this disadvantage can be to digitize all documents and place them in a document management system . In this way, all employees have the latest version of the file at all times.
