The Spinoza Society is an association for the promotion of German-speaking Spinoza research.
Objectives and areas of responsibility
The Spinoza Society has set itself the task of promoting German-speaking Spinoza research and promoting the reintroduction of Spinoza into German-speaking culture. According to the statutes, this should be done primarily through:
- "Organization and promotion of scientific and generally understandable lectures and conferences on Spinoza's philosophy and its significance for the present"
- "Financial support for scientific research projects and publications".
The Spinoza Society wants to address a larger group of interested parties that goes beyond the boundaries of disciplines and the academic field. It wants to facilitate contact between scientists, also internationally, and to help promote the next generation. Membership fees are the financial basis of the work of the Spinoza Society. The Spinoza Society receives grants from institutions that promote science and culture for national conferences and other larger projects.
