Lace paper (perm)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lace paper is used to style hair in a permanent wave to protect the ends of the hair.

application

Since the permanent wave is a chemical change process of the hair, care and protection are an important factor. In order to protect the hair and especially the ends of the hair from heat and hair breakage, the ends of the hair are wrapped in lace paper when using a perm. The flat, rectangular papers are available in different sizes, depending on the needs and size of the curler, the appropriate format can be selected. There are e.g. B. Dimensions such as 75 × 55 mm or 68 × 51 mm. The hair is placed on the paper at the ends and then twisted around the curler. The wound hair is protected by the lace paper directly on the curler . It was used for the permanent wave " already with the pre-war hot permanent wave. The paper could also be of great help when winding the volume curlers. This is particularly useful with very short hair."

nature

Top paper is tailored to the requirements it is exposed to during the permanent waving process, ie it is hard-wearing and tear-resistant. It protects the hair, but at the same time should not hinder the hair shaping process. Therefore, lace paper is usually thin and soft so that it is easy to wind and does not get in the way of winding the section of hair. The paper is usually perforated in order to better absorb the permanent wave liquid if necessary. Likewise, the lace paper is coated with chemicals to reduce the reducing agent in the corrugating agent. It gives double protection and helps with changing.
