Splice
The term splicing has several meanings:
- Joining ropes, cordage or strands of bowstrings, see splicing
- Joining of paper or film webs with adhesive tapes ( splicing tapes ), see splicing (paper industry)
- Connecting wires to telephone cables or glass fibers in telecommunications and network technology, see splicing (telecommunications technology)
- Halving of feathers for bed filling or arrow fletching
- Splitting wood, see splicing (wood) - however (Austrian, mostly Mz. :) Spreisseln = small stove-firewood
- Cutting out the introns from the pre-mRNA in the course of transcription in protein biosynthesis, see splicing (biology)
