Splinter genus
As a splitter type in is Eisenbahnbetrieb one represented by only one or a few copies genus of rail vehicles respectively.
Characteristic for fragment types are high costs due to the availability of unusual spare parts, logistical difficulties and additional training requirements for operating and driving personnel. This results in less freedom of action. Vehicles of splinter classes are therefore usually retired after a shorter period of use than standard classes with a large inventory.
