With spondyloarthropathy , from ancient Greek σπὁνδυλος spondylos , German , vortex ' , ancient Greek. ἄρθρον arthron , German 'joint' and ancient Greek. πάθος pathos , German 'suffering' , are all diseases that affect the vertebral arch joints .
Subdivision
This group of diseases can be divided into:
- Degenerative changes, the spondyloarthroses

Rheumatic changes, the spondyloarthritis
- Axial spondyloarthritis (includes ankylosing spondylitis / ankylosing spondylitis)
- Reactive arthritis (after a gastrointestinal or urinary tract infection )
- Concomitant arthritis / spondylitis in inflammatory bowel disease
- Psoriatic arthritis
distribution
The frequency of rheumatic spondyloarthropathies is given as 0.5–1% in Europe, while degenerative spondyloarthropathies are much more common
