Sportavia silent transporter

The Sportavia Leisetransporter was the design of a seven-seater tactical transport aircraft from Sportavia-Pützer .

history

Around 1976 Sportavia-Pützer supported the Army Office of the German Armed Forces with a study for a seven-seater transport aircraft for the transport of smaller task forces over enemy lines. Based on the requirements for the "quiet flyer" and "stealth flyer" Sportavia S-5 and C.1 , Sportavia-Pützer developed a twin-engine "quiet transporter" from the observation aircraft Sportavia P.68 Observer .

Many construction elements of the camouflage device were taken over from the Sportavia S-5 and C.1, u. a. the Hoffmann Ho V-144 propeller from Hoffmann. The full view cockpit of the P.68B Observer met the requirements of low flight in the target area. Two 375 hp Lycoming TIGO 480 with turbocharger and reduction gear were planned as the drive. The execution of the aircraft was planned in a GRP-wood sandwich construction that was difficult to locate by radar. In the floor the "Leisetransporter" had an exit hatch for the parachutist paragraph.

Sportavia-Pützer proposed to the Army Office that a preliminary investigation be extended to include large aircraft with regard to acoustic, radar and infrared technology location. The full glass pulpit should be examined in particular. The high-lift configuration of the "quiet transporter" should be examined in wind tunnel tests. RWTH Aachen University and DLVFR should be involved in the investigations scheduled until 1978. After that, a prototype was to be built in order to be able to carry out comparable tests on the Sportavia S-5 and C.1 with a large aircraft. For the preliminary study, an order volume of DM 1.3 million was calculated in 1976.

The Army Office did not pursue the idea of a transporter for near-front tactical operations in 1976. As a result, work on the "quiet transporter" was also stopped at Sportavia-Pützer.
