Support purchase

A support department (more rarely: support purchase ) is used to price management and manipulation for at exchanges traded goods such as securities , currencies or commodities . Unlike the normal purchase transaction, it is not primarily aimed at the acquisition of a security or a certain amount of foreign currency on the basis of profit motivation, but rather at the stabilization of the relevant market by reducing an excess supply . Support purchases include u. a. to the arsenal of the central banks to stabilize the capital markets . A good example is support purchases by Asian central banks, which are buying US dollars to stabilize their currencies.

Support purchases can also serve the economically dominant shareholder value in public companies listed on the capital market , in that the company buys its own shares to support the price.
