St-Vio (Tréguennec)
St-Vio is a Roman Catholic chapel in Tréguennec in Brittany . The chapel stands free in the dunes of the Atlantic coast of Brittany.
history
The chapel, dedicated to the local Breton saint Nonna (Breton: Vougay or Vio ), stands at a place where, according to legend, the saint is said to have founded a hermitage.
The chapel was built around 1500 and, typical for the region, has a single nave nave, which is followed by a long choir with a straight choir closure in the east. The horseshoe-shaped choir arch that separates the nave from the choir is remarkable. A stone turret with a bell tower and a tracery pyramid rises above the choir arch. The chapel has a reliquary of St. Nonna.
There is a procession on the last Sunday in June every year. Next to the chapel is the fountain of St. Vio or Nonna.
