St. Anna Church (Ortisei in Val Gardena)
The St. Anna Church in Ortisei in Val Gardena is the cemetery church of the village. The building is Gothic, the furnishings are baroque. The church is mentioned for the first time in 1425. A brotherhood took care of the chapel church for over three centuries. The tower with two bells was only built in its current form in 1799. In 1982 the St. Anna Church was thoroughly restored.
Furnishing
The altar sheet, a painting by the academic painter Josef Anton Mahlknecht (1859), born in Val Gardena and nephew of Johann Dominik Mahlknecht , depicts St. Joachim, St. Anna and the Child Mary. The baroque altar is by Matthias Vinatzer (1717–1784) , on the right and left are St. Joachim and St. Joseph. The interior is also equipped with 14 stations of the cross in the form of oil paintings on canvas from the 18th century. The interior is 10.50 m long and 5.90 m wide.
