St. Eligius Chapel (Dudelange)

The St. Eligius Chapel is a Roman Catholic church in the Schmelz district of the Luxembourg city of Dudelange .

history

The chapel was built in a cubist style according to plans by the architect Norbert Mangen . The foundation stone was laid on September 6, 1963. A year later, on September 27, 1964, she consecrated Vicar General Jean Hengen to St. Eligius .

Next to the church hall a 24 meter high bell tower was built, which is composed of three gray girders. It symbolizes the Holy Trinity and at the same time expresses the solidarity with the local iron industry.

In September 2004 it was declared a National Monument.
