St. Bartholomäus is the Catholic village church of Büchenau (Baden).

The history of the Büchenau church can be traced back to the year 1450.

1450 Completion of the bell tower with space for 3 bells
1468 First bell
1473/74 Second and third bells
1742 Demolition and rebuilding of the church (due to lack of space)
1766 Baroque altar; Tabernacle on the high altar
7.3.1827 Parts of the church will be demolished for the second time (expansion)
1888 Renovation finished (church reaches today's length)
1913 Elevation of the bell tower (without removing the onion roof)
1945 Bomb attack on Büchenau, the church burns down completely.
1946-1948 Reconstruction of the church, now with a pyramid roof
1992-1995 Renovation of the interior

The first bell from 1468 was brought back from the city of Bruchsal in 2006 and is now on display in the church.

poured me in 1776.

Patron saint

The church is named after the apostle Bartholomew , who died a martyr. In the church there is a statue of St. Bartholomew holding his own skin in one hand and a knife in the other.
