St. John the Baptist is a Catholic church in Pakruojis , Lithuania on the right bank of the Kruoja .

history

The first church was built in 1613 or 1630. Jonas Zabiela, the owner Grange Pakruojis, left again in 1750 to build the previously burned church. There was a parish school in the 19th century. In 1890 a new church was consecrated by Bishop Mečislovas Paliulionis . During the land reform in 1922, the church got 8 hectares of land.

From 1933 to 1950 the writer Mikalojus Šeižys-Dagilėlis (1874-1950) worked as a pastor.
