St. Lambertus (Donsbrüggen)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Catholic Church of St. Lambertus is a church in the Donsbrüggen district of Kleve .

The medieval Romanesque church of Donsbrüggen was demolished in 1854 and replaced by a neo-Gothic new building based on plans by the Cologne cathedral builder Ernst Friedrich Zwirner .

The single-nave church has a transept, the northern arm of which was enlarged in 1961. Above the entrance portal is the coat of arms of the Baron von Hövell, who had significantly financed the construction of the church; his grave is in the church cemetery. Most of the neo-Gothic furnishings were removed around 1960.
