The church of St. Maria Rosenkranz is a Roman Catholic church building in the Essen district of Bochold . It was built from 1887 to 1888.

history

The church belongs to the parish of St. Dionysius . It is a parish church. The pair of towers was built from 1900 to 1901. In the same year the renowned Otto bell foundry from Hemelingen / Bremen delivered four bronze bells for Maria Rosenkranz. The bells have the following sequence of striking notes: c '- d' - e '- f'. The diameters of the bells are: 1600 mm, 1430 mm, 1280 mm, 1180. They weigh 2799 kg, 1966 kg, 1413 kg, 1170 kg. The bells survived the confiscation of bells in the two world wars of the past century.

In 1927 the church was changed due to mountain damage .

During the Second World War, the church building suffered severe war damage. After 1945, Engelbert Köjer rebuilt the church and changed it. In earlier times the church was the center of the Bochold district.

The fate of the four memorable OTTO bells, like that of the Church of St. Maria Rosenkranz, is uncertain because the church is to be closed in the next five years.
