St. Marien (Bad Brückenau)
The Catholic Marienkirche in the Staatsbad Brückenau is owned by the Bavarian State.
history
The church bears the name Mary, Salvation of the Sick . It was created according to plans by the court building officer Eugen Drollinger and was inaugurated in 1908. With its onion dome , the sacred building is reminiscent of Catholic churches in southern Bavaria.
Architecture and design
The interior of the church is designed in "Baroque Art Nouveau". The floor made of red sandstone in a herringbone pattern is striking. The picture in the high altar Maria in der Glorie comes from an unknown painter from southern Germany and is on loan from the Bayerische Staatsgemäldegalerie. The painting is dated to the early 17th century.
The side altars are earlier works that Eugen Drollinger integrated into the church. The simple way of the cross was created by Sebastian Putz . From his daughter, Charlotte Putz , St. George , on the stairway to the gallery, and St. Antonius, at the side entrance. Later, St. Kilian and St. Boniface were added to the saints mentioned . The two saints remind of the former assignment of Brückenau to the diocese of Fulda and the current membership to the diocese of Würzburg .
