Parish Church of St. Pankratius

The Catholic parish church of St. Pankratius is located in Störmede , a district of the city of Geseke in the Soest district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

history

The oldest parts of the church date from the 12th century. It was built on the foundations of an earlier castle chapel, which was built in Romanesque style. The foundation stone for the partially new building of the church was laid in 1521. The Gothic middle parts of St. Pankratius date from the early 16th century. The sacristy in the east dates from 1724. From 1870 to 1871 the church tower and two western yokes were built. The two Renaissance epitaphs represent the former lords of the castle Alhard the Elder and Ahlhard the Younger. They were discovered in 1963 when the church floor was being renovated. In 1935 the organ was manufactured by the Speith-Orgelbau company from Rietberg . The four-part cast steel bell in the west tower comes from the Buderus & Humpert foundry and sounds in es'-f'-g'-b '. A klepp bell hangs in the roof turret.
