St. Petersburg Times (Russia)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

St. Petersburg Times was an English-language newspaper in St. Petersburg that appeared once a week on Wednesdays from 1993 to 2014. It was distributed to the readership free of charge in cafes, restaurants and hotels.

The newspaper was aimed primarily at foreigners who worked in Petersburg and at Petersburgers with an interest in the English language. But tourists were also a target group. She reported on local events as well as international politics and economics. The newspaper appeared for the first time in May 1993 and, like its sister newspaper Moscow Times, has belonged to Sanoma Independent Media since 2005 . The last edition of the newspaper appeared on December 24, 2014. Simon Patterson, editor of the newspaper, had previously justified their attitude with the difficult economic situation. The website continued to operate until March 2015 and has been owned by the Moscow Times since then.
