St. Pirmin is a Catholic parish church in Pirmasens with the patronage of St. Pirminius , from which the city name is derived. It was built between 1897 and 1900 according to plans by Wilhelm Schulte I as a neo-Gothic basilica with a double tower facade. In World War II destroyed, it was from 1953 to 1958 by Wilhelm Schulte II. Rebuilt in a modernized form. The towers, previously 72 meters high, were listed up to 52 meters.

The current building is a mixture of neo-Gothic brick church and modern church building. In particular, the front facade has been largely preserved and, with the exception of the column porch and the lower tower roofs, corresponds to the original condition. The nave, on the other hand, was rebuilt after the destruction in a simplified form without the neo-Gothic decorations of the original building. The shape and material of the new building were, however, heavily adapted to the original shape and the remains.

In addition to modern design elements - ceiling paintings, altar, tabernacle - the church furnishings also include parts of the original furnishings such as the Way of the Cross , the Pirminius reliquary and statues of saints. The Walcker organ from 1957 was rebuilt in 1999 by the Kuhn / Esthal company. It comprises 42 registers on three manuals and a pedal. The five-part bell in the south tower was cast by Hermann Hamm in Frankenthal in 1956 and encompasses the nominal (beats) h ° - d '- e' - f sharp '- a'. The quarter-hour strike occurs on the two smallest bells a '- f sharp', the hours are counted on the d 'bell. This means that a D major chord sounds every full hour from top to bottom.

Behind the church is the grave of Pirmasens pastor Johann Michael Schang (1757–1842), who died with a reputation for holiness .
