The ruins of the Gottesackerkirche St. Salvator are located in the southern Thuringian town of Eisfeld .

The cemetery chapel was built on the cemetery laid out in 1542, which was on the road to Coburg that led over the Galgenberg . In 1661 the church was enlarged. A small choir room was added and the main room was extended. In 1719 the church was renovated. In 1873 the city of Eisfeld established a new municipal cemetery in the neighborhood on Schalkauer Strasse. While a new cemetery chapel was being built there in 1901, the old, dilapidated Gottesackerkirche was also being torn down. Resistance to the demolition led to the preservation of parts of the west, north and south walls of today's listed ruins in the old cemetery, which was subsequently transformed into a park.

The scholar and reformer Justus Jonas , who died in 1555, was buried in the cemetery. As a result of the church renovation in 1661, his grave came under the internal staircase leading to the top gallery. An epitaph from 1565, which is located above the arched west door, commemorates him. The rectangular sandstone slab shows Christ crucified in the middle and Justus Jonas and Nikolaus Kindt below in a prayer position. Jonas is depicted as an old man with a flowing beard and hair combed into his forehead. The child, who died in 1549, was like Jonas a Protestant pastor and superintendent in Eisfeld and was also buried in the cemetery. Jonas and Kindt's ornate sandstone grave slabs were moved to the new cemetery chapel in 1901. In the old chapel there were numerous epitaphs on the walls, which have been on the first gallery in the town church since 1901 .
