The State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan (amtl. Azərbaycan Respublikası Dövəl Miqrasiya Xidməti ) is an authority that deals with processes in the field of migration .

Jurisdiction

The State Migration Service is responsible for issuing and extending work permits for foreign citizens in Azerbaijan. The migration service ensures that illegal employment legislation is enforced. All foreigners staying in Azerbaijan for more than 15 days must register with the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The migration service decides on the implementation of the asylum procedure and the judgment on asylum applications . The migration service is also responsible for tasks in accordance with the asylum legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, especially in the areas of illegal migration and evictions.

The State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan is responsible for the implementation of the integration policy in Azerbaijan and advises foreigners.

History and organization

The Migration Service was founded on March 19, 2007. The authority is run by a director who reports directly to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan . The director is appointed directly by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
