Vüsal Hüseynov

Vüsal Hüseynov (born January 12, 1980 in Baku , Azerbaijan ) is an Azerbaijani politician . He has been the head of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan since April 23, 2018 . From 2015 to 2018 he was a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Parliament).

Origin and studies

Vüsal Hüseynov was born on January 12, 1980 in Baku. In 2001 he graduated from the Azerbaijani State University of Economics with a bachelor's degree in economics and completed his master's degree in international economic relations at the same university in 2005. In 2007 he participated in the John Smith Fellowship program. In 2008 Vüsal Hüseynov began studying law at the Baku State University of Azerbaijan. In 2010 he received a scholarship for a master's degree at Harvard University in public administration . In 2011 he received his Masters degree from Harvard University.

Professional life

In 2005 Vüsal Hüseynov started working as a consultant for the Anti-Corruption Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan . In 2012 he was appointed its secretary. 2012-2018 he was chairman of the delegation of Azerbaijan in the group of states against corruption (GRECO) in the Council of Europe . After the parliamentary elections in 2015, Vüsal Hüseynov was elected to the Azerbaijani parliament, of which he was a member until April 2018.

He was vice-chairman of the Azerbaijan delegation to the Council of Europe and a member of the European People's Party in the Council of Europe. Vüsal Hüseynov was a full member of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights, a member of the Subcommittee on Crime Problems and Combating Terrorism and the Subcommittee on Human Rights of the Council of Europe.

On April 23, 2018, Vüsal Hüseynov was appointed head of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan , İlham Əliyev . Vüsal Hüseynov speaks Azerbaijani as well as Russian , Turkish and English . He is married and has two children.
