The State Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan was founded in 1966 on the initiative of the composer Nasib Zhiganov . The first director and conductor was the Ukrainian Natan Rachlin , who in a very short time turned the orchestra into one of the best in the country.
Conductors such as Weronika Dudarowa , Eduard Serow , Arnold Katz and Vladimir Siwa have worked with the orchestra at different times . Viktor Tretyakov , Mstislav Rostropovich and Gidon Kremer have performed with the orchestra .
