Stave Grip
The Grip Stave Church is a Norwegian stave church in grip on the island of Grip rails in Kristiansund .
history
The church was first mentioned in a document in 1589, but was probably built as early as the 14th century and thus a relatively young stave church. In 1621 the church was completely restored and the interior was painted. The roof turret probably goes back to this restoration. In the second half of the 19th century, the church was expanded with a sacristy and an armory . The paintings from the 17th century were painted over. Paneling was added later . In 1930 the church was restored again, the paneling removed and the painting from 1621 exposed. The church also got an external cladding for better weather resistance.
Architecture and equipment
The church is a simple hall church. The choir is as wide as the ship. The church has a south portal into the ship. The choir portal to the south is no longer there.
The altarpiece is a triptych with Mary and Jesus Christ as a child in the middle. To her right is St. Olav and left St. Margaret .
