The city ​​fortification Pöchlarn is the city ​​fortification in the municipality of Pöchlarn in the Melk district in Lower Austria .

history

The fortification of the city was probably started in the 12th century using the former Roman fortifications and expanded in the 14th century. Repaired after an ice rush in the Danube in 1690. Most of the city fortifications were removed from the 1850s, the Welsertor in 1854, the Wienertor in 1860, the city moat was filled in in 1885, the maiden tower at the Benefiziatenhaus was removed in 1893.
