Pile lifter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stack lifters , also stack lifts, are mechanical auxiliary devices for lifting stacks of paper or cardboard. They are used in the printing industry , mostly as part of complete cutting systems .

function

Pile lifters consist of a stable base frame with a lifting platform. Complete stacks of paper are usually placed on the lifting platform with the help of a pallet truck . At the push of a button, the stack is lifted so far up on the platform that the top edge of the stack is at the working height of the system operator. This is constantly checked and corrected by a photocell.

The operator can then take over the topmost layer directly at working height without having to bend down. He places the material in layers in the shaking machine, where the layer is shaken flat before the cutting process. Most pile lifters can optionally be equipped with an angle stop and then support the operator of the cutting system when depositing the cut products.

The automated processes relieve the operator and increase the utilization of the cutting machine.

In contrast to mobile (fork) lift trucks, pile lifters are used stationary and cannot be used as a means of transport in the company.

Occupational health assessment

The trade association for printing and paper processing explains: “The laying down and stacking of paper can put strain on the spine. It is therefore important to equip destacking and feeding workstations with pile lifters. Not the weight of the load alone, but mainly bending over damages the spine in the long run, even with relatively low individual weights ... "
