Stapfer-Enquete

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Stapfer Enquête was an investigation into the school system in Switzerland. In January 1799, the Minister of Education of the Helvetic Republic , Philipp Albert Stapfer , sent a questionnaire to all teachers to determine the state of the school system . Over 2400 answer letters are still available. The questionnaire contained around 60 questions, which were divided into four headings:

  1. Local conditions
  2. classes
  3. Personnel relationships
  4. Economic conditions.

At the end of the questionnaire, the teachers could freely add comments and express their personal view of the school system. What is unique about the school enquête of 1799 is that the questionnaire was addressed directly to the teachers and not to the clergy, as was the case with earlier school surveys.
