Starburst

Starburst stands for:

  • In meteorology, a severe gust of fall that usually occurs during thunderstorms: see downburst .
  • In astrophysics, areas with a high rate of star formation, starburst galaxies , are galaxies in which significantly more new stars are formed than is typical for a galaxy of this size.
