Strong compulsion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a strong compulsion is known in the dog training the use of constraints to achieve a certain behavior in the dog. Aids such as a spiked collar or a tele-stimulator are used for this purpose. Strong compulsion can also be exercised using a normal link collar or a long leash (→ leash jerk ), but whether this is still called strong compulsion is a subjective question.

Force compulsion is used to either train off undesirable behavior or to teach desirable behavior. Its use in dog training is controversial. In many countries the use of spiked collars or telescopic stimulators is prohibited. In most sports dog associations, and thus on the dog courts, its use is not permitted.
