Statens folkhälsoinstitut (German roughly: State Institute for Public Health ) was a Swedish authority under the Ministry of Health. It was based in Östersund . In 2014 it was merged with Smittskyddsinstitutet to form Folkhälsomyndigheten .

The tasks of the authority, which was founded in 1992, consisted in the implementation and scientific support of official public health measures and monitoring in the area of ​​alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco and doping.
