Connector type H

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Two Israeli plugs and an electrical outlet. The left plug is the old standard, the right one is the revision from 1989 with round pins.

The connector type H , specified in SI 32, can only be found in Israel and the Palestinian Territories and is incompatible with all other connector systems. It has two flat pins like the type B connector , but in a V-shape instead of parallel. Approved for a maximum of 16 A ( ampere ), it also has a protective conductor pin (grounding).

development

In practice, the sockets are manufactured with extensions in the middle of the V-shaped openings, which means that even Euro flat plugs (type C) (as used in almost all of Europe ) fit into type H sockets.

In 1989 the Israeli standard SI 32 was revised and since then connectors with three round pins with a diameter of 4.4 mm have been used in the same positions as defined in the older standard.

Sockets have since been manufactured to accept both versions of plugs, with both flat and round prongs. Since 2006, pure Israeli sockets for three flat pins are no longer manufactured and are only very rarely found in Israel.

The type H sockets are compatible with the Euro plug . In some sockets of the revised version, the u. a. In Germany, press the standard Schuko plug (type F) (pin diameter 4.8 mm), but the protective contact is then not connected (risk of death!).
