Styrian Rifle Federation
The Steiermärkische Landesschützenbund has existed since 1879. Today it has 95 clubs with around 3,500 members, with 450 years of club history. The Styrian Rifle Federation is affiliated with the Austrian Rifle Federation. The focus of the Styrian Landesschützenbund, also called Landesschützenbund Steiermark , is sport shooting . history
The oldest evidence of the shooting clubs in Styria is a letter of invitation sent out in 1460 by the shooting society Saalfelden , which was found in Rottenmann (northwestern Styria). The shooting association of the provincial capital Graz has a shooting regulation which was drawn up by Prince Johann Christian von Eggenberg in 1657. The principles of the shooting regulations issued by the City of Graz in 1725 are still in force today.

The Styrian Landesschützenbund is a society of men and women who are looking for both conviviality and performance in sport shooting. The secret of an accurate shot lies in the harmony of mind and body. At this contrast to the everyday hustle and bustle, the Styrian Landesschützenbund positions and identifies itself as a source of balanced well-being.
Exercise and device
Trained instructors instruct the athletes in posture, aiming and breathing techniques. The gain in performance increases primarily through training intensity and physical training. A competition lasts up to two hours, depending on the discipline.
The following sports equipment is used in the Styrian Schützenbund:
- Air rifle : 10 m
- Small bore rifle : 50 m
- Large caliber rifle : 300 m
- Muzzle loaders : 25 m and 100 m
- Air pistol : 10 m
- Fire pistol : 25 m and 50 m
- Large caliber pistol : 25 m
- Crossbow: 10 m and 30 m

Since October 1st, 2007 the shooting areas of the Styrian Landesschützenbund have been redistributed. There are six shooting districts, each presided over by a district shooting master. The shooting districts are named: Graz and the surrounding area , south-west , south-east , Upper Murtal , Ennstal and Mürz Valley .
Every three years, a board of directors is elected at the general assembly, which the state rifle champions and the state rifle champions are deputies. There is also an honorary marksman. This is currently DI Fritz Schattleitner , who participated as an athlete in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico and last worked as a technical delegate in Beijing .
