Stone dams

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Steindämmer is a historical profession (now road builders).

In the past there was not only paving and gravel work on roads or courtyard paving , but also stone work: The stone dam went with a probe (long, stable iron rod) over the fields and looked for large boulders that he dug up and from which he pounded and paving material.
