Stenomask

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A stenom mask is used when conversations between several people are followed up by another person - for the purpose of recording or interpreting , especially with simultaneous text-to-speech . The mask , which is close to the mouth of the recording speaker ("AS"), allows only the words of the AS to flow into the recording and, on the other hand, avoids an acoustic " echo effect " due to the speech contributions being repeated in the same room for the actual participants.

For this purpose, the stenomask consists of a flexible material that tightly encloses the mouth in an approximately funnel-shaped manner and is either held by hand or fixed with a head strap. In the final front part of the mask there is a microphone and a cable from this to the recording device.
