The Sternapi is a historic apple variety . The fruit is typical, pentagonal, star-shaped, medium-sized to rather small, and has a yellowish-white, firm flesh .

history

The oldest known mention of this apple variety is assigned to the doctor and botanist Jean Bauhin (1541–1612). The name " pomum pentagonum " (five-star apple) also comes from him . According to his contemporary Olivier de Serres , the star api is said to come from Roman times . In 1981 Roger Corbaz rediscovered this ancient culture apple and took it into culture.

From the decorative apple Sternapi, the Apistar emerged through skillful crossing, a variety whose edges protrude more strongly.
