Goldfinch (heraldic animal)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Goldfinch or Goldfinch is in heraldry a common figure and as emblem rarely in arms to find.

The bird is depicted slightly deviating from its natural appearance. The red face mask, which clearly distinguishes the heraldic animal from other heraldic birds, is striking. The direction of the heraldic right can be seen as a basic attitude and therefore need not be mentioned in the blazon . All heraldic tinctures are allowed, but the low stylistic penetration shows primarily more or less the natural bird.

The early use of the goldfinch coat of arms is already known from Heinrich von Stieglitz's seal above the coat of arms since 1356.

The goldfinch is good for families with the name goldfinch for talking coats of arms . An example is the noble family Stieglitz (noble family) .
