Fehlmann family foundation

The Fehlmann Family Foundation is a foundation for the promotion of Swiss art of the 18th and 19th centuries, based in Winterthur . In particular, it supports projects on the art of the Swiss minor masters .

history

The foundation was established in Winterthur according to the will of Heinz Fehlmann-Sommer (1919–2015) and entered in the commercial register of the Canton of Zurich on August 22, 2016. It is divided into a finance committee and an art committee, the members of which together form the foundation board.

The foundation includes the collection of works by Swiss minor masters, the so-called Helvetica, built up by the founder's father, Heinrich Fehlmann-Richard (1880–1952). It comprises around 650 prints, drawings and books with original graphics. Particularly noteworthy are the hand-colored prints by Johann Ulrich Schellenberg , Johann Ludwig Aberli , Heinrich Rieter and the two Gabriel Lory ( father and son ).

In the spirit of the founder of the foundation, Heinz Fehlmann-Sommer, the Fehlmann Family Foundation supports projects that aim to expand knowledge of Swiss art of the 18th and 19th centuries, in particular that of the Swiss minor masters (Helvetica).

The Fehlmann Family Foundation is based in the Haus zum Warteck in Winterthur. The foundation and collection are open to the public by prior arrangement.
