The Social Society Foundation - Sustainable Development is a non-profit foundation of the IG Bauen-Agrar-Umwelt . It was founded in autumn 2004 and is based in Berlin.

The aim of the foundation is to promote social sustainability through national and international projects in the trade union context. The guidelines of action are:

  • Act sustainably, d. H. Consider the environment, economy and social issues as a unit and act in a socially sustainable manner.
  • Show social alternatives - as a foundation of the IG Bauen-Agrar-Umwelt , one wants to show social alternatives and promote concrete projects in a trade union context.
  • Conduct a dialogue - with representatives from the environment, business and social affairs, we can develop sustainable ideas
  • Prove international solidarity - Against the background of a globalized world, the foundation sees the concept of "international solidarity" being given new content. People from other continents are closer than they used to be. The foundation therefore not only support projects in Europe, but also in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
  • Helping people to help themselves - the decisive principle of the projects is helping people to help themselves. The foundation sees this as an elementary prerequisite for sustainably changing structures.
