The aha! Allergy Center Switzerland is a non-profit foundation . As a nationwide umbrella and patient organization, it aims to support people who suffer from allergies , asthma , neurodermatitis (atopic dermatitis) or intolerance .

aims

With information, advice and training, the foundation supports those affected to improve the way they deal with health restrictions and to find a good quality of life. In addition, the foundation runs prevention and information campaigns and sets thematic priorities in order to sensitize the general public to the complex allergy issue. The activities are based on the medical sciences.

history

In 1935, the self-help association DAS BAND was founded in Bern with the aim of supporting tuberculosis patients in returning to work and social life. The driving force was the Bern teacher Paul Johann Kopp. On his initiative, the social service DAS BAND and a housing cooperative came into being in Davos. With the decline in tuberculosis from the 1960s, the self-help organization increased its activities in the field of asthma and respiratory diseases. In 2000 the association was transformed into the aha! Swiss center for allergy, skin and asthma founded, with a clear focus on allergy-related skin and respiratory diseases. Since January 1, 2012 the foundation has been renamed the aha! Allergy Center Switzerland .

organization

Around 20 employees work at the office in Bern. The board of trustees, to which seven members from medicine, business, law and science belong, is the supervisory body for all activities. A scientific advisory board with six members with a medical-scientific orientation assesses the foundation's activities from a technical point of view. The foundation bears the ZEWO seal of approval and is ISO 9001 certified. It is also certified by the Health on the Net ( HON) foundation and a member of the Swiss Health League Conference (GELIKO) .

Services

The foundation offers documentation, publications, information material, advice, interdisciplinary training for those affected and their relatives, as well as more topic-related courses and seminars for professionals.

financing

The foundation is financed through donor and benefactor contributions, cooperation and performance contributions as well as contributions from services.
